Orange Sunrise Juice

Oh, man! I forgot to take a picture of my juice I just had. But I will tell you, it was delicious! I love the taste of homemade juice. And this is a sweet treat.

Orange Sunrise Juice
1 orange
1 sweet potato
1 carrot
dash of ground ginger

Juice together orange, sweet potato, and carrot. Pour over ice. Add ginger. Stir and enjoy!

I'm Back

I know it's been a while since I have been on here. What a little stinker I've been! There are two reasons why I haven't been posting.

1-I have been having some issues with my leg. I was born with some vascular abnormalities which have been causing me some problems this winter.  The cold doesn't seem to agree with my veins! I have been in a lot of pain because of that so I haven't worked out. So I haven't had much to write about.
2-I am having a baby! I have been sick (not throw up sick, just feeling extremely yucky) for the last two months.  I haven't wanted to look at food or post about food. And I wasn't ready to announce the exciting news so I didn't want to write about it on the blog.

Well, I am about to enter my second trimester and I am feeling a lot better and ready to get back on here! Most of my postings will probably be focused on exercising during pregnancy and foods that look good to me.

Being pregnant has been wonderful for me.  I haven't been obsessed with food or losing weight. I have been able to relax and actually enjoy food without worrying about the consequences to my body.  I have actually lost some weight this first trimester, which surprised me.  Maybe one reason was that I wasn't thinking about food all the time. And for a while there I wasn't really into sweets that much. But now my appetite is back full force and I am always hungry!!

I am trying to be aware of what I eat, making sure I am eating fruits and vegetables and that I am not just eating crap. I will, however, give into my cravings of sweet things, but I will try to eat in moderation.

Moderation. Isn't that what it all comes down to? Eat in moderation. Exercise in moderation. Watch shows in moderation. All things in moderation.  Maybe that should be my goal this year. Moderation.

Speaking of goals, I know at the New Year people usually make goals. I haven't really set any particular goals for myself regarding my body or food or anything like that. I am just trying to keep myself healthy for this precious little baby I am making!

Baby Steps

When I put a shout out for motivation tips on Facebook, a dear friend of mine mentioned baby steps. Am I the only one who thinks of What About Bob when people say baby steps? Ha ha.  When looking at pictures of fit people I often forget that it took time for them to be where they are. We live in a generation of "want it now, get it now". Want new clothes? Go out and buy them. Want a new phone? Go to the phone store and get it. It's like we don't have any patience!

I see so many "lose 10 pounds in 10 days" type diets where you can lose weight fast. I forget that it takes time for your body to change. My weight loss/muscle toning won't happen in a day, or even a week. I need to take baby steps.

This friend also told me that making a clear and precise goal with an end date in sight is helpful.  Why didn't I think of that? Guys, I was in a funk, and I can feel myself coming out of it, thanks to your motivation and support!

I am going to make a goal for myself, a clear concise goal with an end date.  I will make baby steps for myself.  I will post my goal here to make myself accountable.   I don't yet know my goal but I will think about it this week.

The past two weeks have been crazy, but that's nothing new. I have had sick kids and I have been sick. I have taken it easy hoping that rest would make me better. I hope to get back in the swing of things soon.
